For quite some time, the Friends of Historic Bovaird House Volunteers have been working, with the City of Brampton, to draft a final operating agreement between the Volunteers and the City. The intention of this agreement was to formalize the responsibilities of both parties, concerning the day-to-day maintenance, operations and programing for Historic Bovaird House. The hope was to build on the hard work and contributions of the Volunteers, that has taken place over the past 30 years! Some of those plans were to hopefully include increasing operating hours which would have provided greater public access and enjoyment of the buildings and property. Sadly, an agreement could not be reached that proved satisfactory for both parties and subsequently the house was closed for tours and events as of February 28th.
While the city explores their options for the continued use of the property, we do hope that we can once again partner with the City and utilize our dedication, experience and knowledge to the preservation of Historic Bovarid House, the Pendergast Log House and the surrounding property.
We would like to take this opportunity, to thank our volunteers, the Friends of Historic Bovaird House, for their, passion, hard work and dedication over the last 30 years. We would also like to thank the City of Brampton and all their staff for their ongoing support.
We would also like to thank the public for their incredible support over the years the many visitors from Brampton and around the world are the reason we volunteer and made our hard work all worthwhile!
Thank you all again for your love and support!
With warmest regards,
Friends of Historic Bovaird House
